 No-Name Sharkfin
Sharkfin perhaps? Whatever, they're great! We're dead sure that these picks were made somewhere in Scandinavia, most probably Sweden. And up north in Scandinavia Sharkfin was the only pickmaker far and wide. The picks even follow the same colour-code as regular Sharkfin plecs ? red for thins, white for mediums and black for heavies. Just to make one thing clear ? Stig Landström would've rather hacked off his hand than play a standard shaped pick ? or even make one! From his point of view, this sort of standard shaped pick ceased to exist when he invented his Sharkfins back in 1964. It's also a bit difficult to nail the year these picks were made ? they might be from 2001 or 1971. Perhaps someone can try and date them using the C4 method archaeologists enjoy using.... They're basically shaped like standards, but with a slightly round tip. Another piece in the puzzle indicating they were indeed destined to become Sharkfins? Whatever, we're missing the main point ? namely how they sound. And they sound damn good, even though they're out of some sort of Delrin. Jim D. would be mighty proud of himself, if his name were printed on picks like these. Shape and Gauges: Typical standard shape, about 30mm by 25mm. These no-names are available in three gauges ? thin (red, 0.46mm), medium (white, 0.71mm) and heavy (black, 0.96mm). State and Stock: These picks are in mint condition. The surface has been lightly polished, the edges aren't rounded. We have enough of these picks stocked to last for quite some time. You can use a few for playing and add the rest to your collection. Price: In this special case, the price isn't dictated by age. Due to the good supply situation we can sell them for a good, low price ? although they'll become increasingly valuable the fewer are available.
