National White Flatpicks: Following up on the success of the thumbpick
National developed it's third product, the Flatpick, in the 1930ies. The picks
were made out of white celluloid and featured a golden logo print on the front.
The colour wasn't the regular white celluloid, which always has a hue of yellow,
but was pure white with a hint of blue in the background.
This colour inspired Fred Gretsch to build the White Falcon Semiacoustic,
which was white with golden parts....
Today's White Flatpicks are still made out of exactly the same sort of
celluloid as they were back then!
