NP-1, das Pick aus Stahl. Heute noch genauso amtlich wie vor siebzig Jahren.

The finger picks that started it all. National's NP-1 Steel Picks were one of the most important guitar-related innovations of the 20th century.

Back then, everyone was crazy about banjos, and that's what these picks were invented for. The basic idea which led National to come up with finger picks was that the using more picks at the same time would lead to playing faster.

NP-2, das Pick aus Neusilber. Der Klassiker.

National carried on making finger picks whilst the guitar replaced the banjo. The same logic, after all, applies to all stringed instruments (at least as long as you don't pluck them or use a bow).

The guitar demanded a different sort of finger pick, with a less extreme tone. National changed the shape a bit and started using nickel-silver, instead of steel. The result was the NP-2.

NP-2S Stahl:

Kommt immer mehr in den letzten 25 Jahren, seit die Saiten stabiler wurden. Der Ton ist unnachahmlich.

NP-2B Messing:

Die Sammler streiten sich, was nur zuerst da war. Aber egal, beide sind alt und Messing war immer der klangliche Gegenpol zu Neusilber.

NP-2G vergoldet:

Gut, den Ton von Stahl und von Messing kennt man, aber Gold? Einfach schnell probieren. Fingerpicks klingen bei jedem anders. Und selbst die Picksammler fallen über uns her wegen den Goldenen. Denn die sind eine "Limited Edition"! Irgendwann sind sie wieder weg.

National Fingerpicks, das ist Geschichte pur.

Durch diese Picks bekommen die alten Gitarren der Golden Area erst ihren Zauber. Durch sie war es zum ersten mal möglich, Melodien unabhängig von Bass oder Begleitung auf dem selben Instrument gleichzeitig zu spielen! Und durch sie bekamen akustische Gitarren erstmals Lautstärke!
