Kasho Zelluloid
Nothing can replace genuine celluloid picks.
Nearly all plectrums sold nowadays are made of plastic, whereas only a handful of pickmakers still use celluloid. A sad thing, really, because celluloid just simply sounds a lot better than plastic. Strike a note with a celluloid and you'll immediately hear the difference ? louder, fuller. Apart from sounding better, celluloid picks also look a lot better, too.
Celluloid was invented back in 1864 by the Hyatt Brothers and doesn't really have much to do with plastic, rather more with wood. Wood consists to about 40 percent of cellulose, and it's this cellulose stuff that colours the sound of celluloid picks far more than all the other components found in wood. Celluloid is won from cellulose in a lengthy and somewhat complicated process. Further ingredients are cotton, alcohol and camphor. Celluloid is quite easy to use as long as it's thin ? film reels are still made from celluloid. However, it becomes more difficult to work with celluloid the thicker it is ? drying alone might take half a year!
Kasho, based in Okinawa, Japan, is one of the very few companies which still
use celluloid. They're not getting rich using it. We have been fortuanate enough
to recieve a licence from them, which means you can buy original Kasho plectrums
right here. And we definitely hope we'll keep that licence for a long, long
time....
Kasho No. 3 Picks for these amongst us who are fed up with the conventional sound of
plastic. And for those who don't think cheap stuff is good enough.
The No. 3 is a bit smaller than the regular teardrop. The result is a lighter pick that is easier to handle, especially when playing more complicated parts. Details... ab: 9,90 € |
Kasho No.5 Hold it against the light and it becomes somewhat transparent. You can make
out the cell-like structure of the celluloid. Quite a nice sight, like a natural
maple top.
The No. 5 picks are about equal in size to the classic Fender 351 picks and measures 30 mm in length and 20 mm at it's widest part. The broad head of the pick isn't totally flat, but slightly curved. Details... ab: 9,90 € |
Kasho No.5L Shaped like the normal Kasho No. 5, which is in turn sized like the Fender
Nr. 351.
The 5L hast two advantages ? a rounder tip for a stronger tone and 2mm larger! Most of us are quite happy with and used to regular sized picks. But a some wish that those damn little rascals would be a bit larger, at least just an itsybitsy bit larger. And that's where No. 5L hits the stage! Details... ab: 9,90 € |
Kasho No.15
Size-wise it's as large (or small, however you want to put it) as a regular pick. Except for the upper half, which is rectangular. The shape helps it sit firmly in your hand and keeps it from slipping around. Details... ab: 9,90 € |
Kasho No.27 A small sensation: Dawg-style picks! Small and handy! Triangles for
players who don't like them.
Genuine celluloid picks with a loud tone. For guitarists who need some rest from regular shapes. And for guitarists who've been playing a little bit longer. Click here to lay your hands on the twentysevens! Details... ab: 12,90 € |
Kasho No.55 (Ni Hana) Eigentlich ein ganz normales Pick. Jedoch mit einem Erweiterung für den Zeigefinger!Details... ab: 9,90 € |
