Beer, beer, beer.... Once upon a time, it used to be quite normal over here to secure straps with the rubber bits found under swing-top caps, which were used for beer bottles. What's that? Well, it's a small rubber ring which is used to cap beer bottles over here in Germany and the Netherlands and other countries, except Great Britain (and probably a few more places). So why bother using some metal part if you can use one of these cheap things to the same effect? Easy to use, fast to wobble on and off. And a great excuse to drink one or two beers! But those were the days. Those rubber-rings are no longer availible... If there's a problem, find a solution. We wound up searching high and low for the proper bits and found them! Not only that, but we found them in different styles and had one made according to our specifications: The good, old, red cap washers.... We kept on asking the German maker of these washers until he caved in, had a breakdown and dusted off the old machines to make them again. The genuine red rubber washers! As flat as a pancake. These washers were originally used during the fifties. Brand new, custom made pin washers! Not only did we manage to persuade the maker of the old, red rubber washers to make a batch, we also convinced him he'd be a wholly wonderful chap if he'd also make them in black! Black, not as vintage or ?cult?, but a lot more elegant and less striking. The same (food safe) rubber and just as flat! The Eastern Bloc Washer Rubber washers and swing-top caps were also used in East Europe after the war. The socialist answer to the capitalistic red washer was black, harder and had a smaller hole. In our opinion, these washers are the best. The "Whites". The color at first glance is the typical Tele. But it is not only for white instruments, it is really somewhat transparent and let the strap's color shine through. Softer then the others, still strong enough to hold just fine. The inside hole is 6 mm, the ideal size.
