Shape and Gauges:
We also have vintage ebonite picks in the legendary large teardrop shape
(40.3mm x 20.3mm). You can cut them to fit if you're used to the standard shape.
These are the only heavy ebonite picks we've seen in the last 15 years!
Age & State:
These picks are very old, we presume they were made end of the 1940ies.
That's at least what an American collector said when he saw the riffled grip.
The surface is unpolished, the edges aren't rounded, but smooth and straight. We
only have a handful of these left, then they're gone....
We're especially glad that we're the only dealer worldwide who still can
offer vintage ebonite picks.
Just as a matter of fact ? these picks aren't purely made of ebonite.
Ebonite picks used to be made out of ebonite, bakelite, rubber, soot, resin and
a few other ingredients which noone recalls anymore.
So please don't cut up old pipes or saxophone mouthpieces, antique
ebonite eyeglasses, fountain pens or anything else ? the remains won't be
playable.
