Dugain

Jean-Charles Dugain's authority on anything relating to picks, especially fat ones, is unquestionable. In France, the former professional guitarist is labelled as a ?plectrier?, i.e. someone who makes picks by hand. With the help of his wife Isabel, Dugain built up a special workshop out in the countryside where he crafts his picks.

Dugain uses various raw materials. He makes picks out of bone, stone, plastics, glass and wood. All of his picks share the same shape: Angled, slightly flattened tip, indented thumbgrip, groove for the index finger. Each pick measures three millimetres in length by 25mm in width. He's worked on the shape of his pick until it was utterly perfect.

All picks are absolutely inflexible and thus ideally suited for varying tone and attack with the right hand.

Dugain also makes high-quality slides, for which he uses the same raw materials.

Dugain's list of users is quite impressive. Amongst others, John Mac Laughlin, Al Di Meola and Yngwie Malmsteen belong to Dugain's customer list.
