Do not let Buffo's exterior fool you - his interior qualities make the music and sun shine. What does it do? First, it is a buffer and this circuit is always on. It gives the signal a lower impedance and makes it unsusceptible for any drop outs or interferences. Who would want to turn off a feature like that? The footswitchable boost functions as a linear booster until the knob hits 6, boosting all frequencies and making them louder. This is helpful to keep the signal strong if it is running through multiple pedals and/ or long cables are used. Boosting the voltage of the signal keeps the tone clear and beefy. An amp can start to break-up if you crank Buffo higher, which offers excellent harmonics. Naturally, this depends on the kind of amp being used, an 18 watt class A amp will break up earlier than, say, a Fender Twin. Turning the knob beyond 6 turns Buffo into a treble booster, not only making the signal louder but also boosting the highs. Tons of great guitarists have based their sound on treble boosters, for instance Eric Clapton, Richie Blackmore or Tony Iommi. Buffo is a truely great treble booster, too. He'll make any amp sing a hymn for eternity. On the Inside: Buffo uses either two 9V block batteries (i.e. 18V) or can be used with a regular power supply. He can be fed with 18 to 24V - which will change the tone, so anyone is invited to experiment.
