"As we experimented with different gauges and shapes, we realized that the whole dynamic of the pick was different: the position of the hand on the pick became repeatable and instantly recognizable to the player. The pick stored energy, and a slight negative camber, resembling the human fingernail, presented a flatter and more controllable tip element to the string.
The pick flexes through a shorter arc, and we had a high degree of control over the edge design through our injection molding process. The picks actually had to be acoustically tuned through material and shape modifications to more precisely engage and release the strings without damping or vibrating at a frequency too close to that of the string.
The pick is center strong, instead of edge strong, through a structural spine, and vibrates entirely differently than a conventional pick. Pre-stressing the tip provided us a great deal of control of where the pick stored and released energy, and we designed a deflection to be within 15 string diameters of the tip."
